SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 21

Recognizing the Future Homemakers of America/Home Economics Related Occupations as an organization that is important to the youth of West Virginia.

Whereas, The Future Homemakers of America/Home Economics Related Occupations (FHA/HERO) has a national membership of more than two hundred fifty thousand young men and women. Since the organization's founding in 1945, FHA/HERO has involved more than nine million youth; and
Whereas, At the present time there are more than two thousand members of FHA/HERO in forty-three chapters in West Virginia; and
Whereas, The Future Homemakers of America/Home Economics Related Occupations assists our young men and women in becoming more prepared for the everyday life they will face in the future, such as family, employment and social issues, through family and consumer science education; and
Whereas, The Future Homemakers of America/Home Economics Related Occupations offers its members the opportunity to expand the skills necessary for home and workplace environments, such as planning, goal setting, problemsolving, decisionmaking and interpersonal communication; and
Whereas, The Future Homemakers of America/Home Economics Related Occupations organization also offers our youth a variety of youth-related topics, including teen pregnancy, parenting, family relationships, substance abuse, peer pressure, environment, nutrition and fitness; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate hereby recognizes the accomplishments and effect the Future Homemakers of America/Home Economic Related Occupations organization has on the youth of West Virginia. This organization is to be commended for its preparation of our youth for the future and its assistance to our youth with youth-related issues; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Senate hereby commends the virtues taught by the Future Homemakers of America/Home Economic Related Occupations organization to our nation's youth. Their education in the matters of everyday living will help them become more productive citizens of West Virginia and the nation; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the officers of the West Virginia Future Homemakers of America/Home Economic Related Occupations Executive Council.
